The Library as a Place
From Studying Pods to Community Spaces
How can libraries inspire children's and teensβ creativity, discovery, and creative expression? This track showcases programs, spaces, and tools that ignite imagination, foster exploration, and support young makers and storytellers.
"For all" is an audacious goal β but one we believe is worth striving for. What does it take to ensure that no one feels left out at the library? In this track, we invite stories, ideas, and actions that help libraries become more inclusive by embracing physical access, cultural diversity, and a sense of belonging.
In a world where everything can now be done with a swipe of a fingertip, why do people still gather in libraries? Why does the library as a space continue to matter? This track explores the spatial, emotional, and social power of libraries as physical places β and how they nurture presence, connection, and a sense of belonging.
As forward thinkers striving to build better libraries, we recognize that each region faces its own unique challenges and contexts. In East Asia, libraries have traditionally served as places for study, exams, and the pursuit of opportunities β more transitional than transformational. Moving toward libraries that center community, exploration, and discovery is a necessary but complex journey. This track highlights the challenges and aspirations shaping the future of libraries in East Asia.
